The video you are about to watch is terrifying in the extreme. Not for its graphic violence, but for its shocking revelation that people are so unaware of the world outside of their own little bubble.
To this vapid woman I say, no I yell, “Go Outside Once in a While.”
It reminds me of an actual new story down here on the Gulf Coast. A woman left her two daughters in the care of a babysitter while she went dallying off to have fun somewhere. The sitter took the girls to the Texas City Dike, which is a rock dike jutting out into Galveston Bay. People launch their boats, fish and swim all along the dike and have done for decades.
The sitter didn’t speak any English and I guess couldn’t read, because all signs along the dike are in Spanish and English. Anyway, the poor girls wandered into a no-swimming area known for its high tides and drowned. That was beyond sad and I certainly felt great sympathy for the mother until she gave an interview and said (I can’t quote her exact words because I no longer have the article, but I think you’ll have no doubt believing that the gist of her words have stuck in my mind) Who allowed all the water to be out in the open like that? It’s a disgrace. Somebody’s got to fill that place in, we don’t need so much water just sitting out there for anyone to get in.
To that all I can say is an incredible vague and non-too bright, “Huh?”
